Opening ceremony of megamall ”Rio” at Dmitrovskoye highway

On the 28th of February, 2009, we organized a ceremony of opening RIO megamall at Dmitrovskoye highway. The symbolic bond was cut by Moscow mayor Yury Luzhkov, Prefect of the South-Eastern administrative district I.Y. Raber and Head of Moscow Consumer Service Market department V.I. Malyshkov.

General information: megamall RIO is the first-turn object of multifunctional project City-Park Moscow (for the purpose of which Tashir Group is planning a complex development of 10 ha territory located on the crossing of the MKAD and Dmitrovskoye highway). City-Park Moscow will be one of the largest complex developments of Moscow. The area of the project, over 20 ha, will include megamall RIO of total area 220 000 sq m and office and hotel complex SK Royal with area of 40 000 sq m.
The project has been developed by Tashir Group. The construction of megamall RIO took 1.5 years. The investments into the project made about $ 300 million.
The target audience
The City-park includes objects of trade, office, hotel and warehouse real estate, united with a sole concept. It is a new format fort Russia. Megamall RIO is the first object of the City-Park, a full-format trade and leisure center, oriented to visitors of different ages and income levels. According to our calculations, the daily visitors number will make 100 000 people at weekends and up to 60 000 on work days.
We believe that the City-Park will become the center of attraction both for young people and for parents with children. The concept of the project is a new dawn in family vacation. It combines shopping and entertainment, and provides interesting leisure and children's development. What for our tenants, we make all conveniences for them: comfort office A-class office premises and warehouse zone.
Project brief
The leading trade networks and best world brands are represented in TLC RIO: Marks and Spencer, Douglas, Lady and Gentleman, Eldorado, Detsky Mir, Children's entertainment, Snezhnaya Koroleva, Cinema Star, Sportmaster, O'stin, Adidas, Nike, Mexx, Topshop.

Our Hypermarket, a product discounter, will be located at the area of 17 000 sq m. It is the largest project of JSC The Seventh Continent in Moscow (70 cash terminals, 40 00 products items, its own manufactures and modern bakery). In RIO there will also be a modern 8-hall multiplex Cinema Star, a bowling club, a children's entertainment center Jungle-star, a cozy restaurant court and a spacious food court.

Outstanding feature of the center will be a unique amphitheater for the purposes of having entertainment and concert programs at the territory of TLC RIO.
A multilevel parking for 4000 cars will be an important element of the infrastructure.
The social value
Megamall RIO will become the most important infrastructure element for the huge (3 million sq m of residential apartments) district Severny. The location of TLC RIO provides good transport access for the North and North-East of Moscow, and also for Dolgoprudny city.
By official data there are about 2 402 506 people living in the trade zone of TLC RIO. For convenience of the visitors there will be a free bust from Altufyevo metro station, and a two-level parking for 4000 cars.

TLC RIO has been projected and constructed with consideration of people with limited abilities. There are travolators for wheelchair users, special toilet rooms; the passages into the TLC are projected so that a wheelchair user could pass without any difficulties and have a comfortable shopping. At the parting there is a special zone for disable persons.
Technologies
While constructing the megamall at Dmitrovskoye highway we were the first in Russia to use prestressing of concrete with keying action in reinforced framing. This technology is not usual for civil construction, as it is mostly used for large bridges. We have been working with a German-Russian company, and used their materials and technologies. Advantages of the method is the reduced thickness of the construction, that making it lighter and stronger.
